Post-Service Care Instructions
Effective Date: February 18, 2026
Thank you for choosing Appalachian Sealcoating and Asphalt Maintenance for your asphalt maintenance needs.
Proper care following sealcoating or asphalt maintenance services is essential to ensure maximum performance, longevity, and appearance of your newly treated surface.
Failure to follow these care instructions may result in damage to the sealed surface and may void any applicable workmanship warranty.
1. Curing Time Requirements
After sealcoating service has been completed:
●Foot traffic:
Avoid walking on the sealed surface for a minimum of 24–48 hours
●Vehicle traffic:
Do not drive or park on the sealed surface for a minimum of 48–72 hours
Please note that curing times may vary depending on:
●Temperature
●Humidity
●Sun exposure
●Airflow
●Surface conditions
●Cooler temperatures or shaded areas may require additional curing time.
2. Avoid Sharp Turns and Tire Scuffing
For the first 30 days after service:
●Avoid turning vehicle steering wheels while stationary
●Do not perform tight turns on the sealed surface
●Avoid heavy braking or acceleration
●Turning tires in place may cause scuffing or tearing of the sealcoat before it fully hardens.
3. Avoid Heavy Equipment and Objects
Do not place or operate the following on newly sealed asphalt for at least 7 days:
●Motorcycle kickstands
●Trailer jacks
●Dumpster wheels
●Heavy equipment
●Construction materials
●Ladders or scaffolding
●Sharp or concentrated weight may puncture or indent the sealcoat surface.
4. Oil, Gasoline, and Chemical Spills
Sealcoating is resistant to minor exposure but is not immune to:
●Oil leaks
●Gasoline spills
●Fertilizers
●Cleaning agents
●Automotive fluids
●Clean spills promptly using mild soap and water to prevent surface deterioration or staining.
5. Water Exposure
Avoid excessive water exposure for the first 48 hours, including:
●Sprinklers
●Pressure washing
●Heavy runoff from downspouts
●Standing water may interfere with proper curing and bonding.
6. Parking Recommendations
To promote even curing:
●Alternate parking positions when possible
●Avoid parking in the same spot repeatedly during the first 14 days
This helps prevent uneven wear or depressions.
7. Line Striping Care (If Applicable)
If line striping services were performed:
●Avoid driving over painted lines for at least 24 hours
●Avoid pressure washing striped areas for 7 days
8. Long-Term Maintenance Tips
To extend the life of your asphalt surface:
●Clean debris regularly
●Address oil leaks immediately
●Repair cracks as they appear
●Reseal every 3-4 years as recommended
Preventative maintenance significantly reduces long-term repair costs.
